Champagne de Barfontarc

Jump to description

Vigneron: Philipe Poiron

Early in 2012 Trevor finally made it to the St. Mitre estate in Provence (their rose is a happy addition to our wines), where he spotted a bottle of champagne from the Aube, the “other” Champagne, on a shelf. This was Barfontarc from the Cotes de Bars - the name is made up of the three villages forming the co-operative and made by Philippe Poiron. The Aube must still have undiscovered wines, the Champagne region is big, over 100 kilometres from top to bottom and difficult to research, so it is a piece of luck when circumstance does the work for you!
This is good value, quite refeshing and a real champagne from the heartland.
