LA RONCHARDE (2008)
Appellation Condrieu Controllee
La Roncharde is the name of the 'Lieu-Dit' where the vines are planted. It is also a very steep slope (steeper than Tupin!) and quite a crazy place to grow anything really, facing south west which confers them a very high maturity without the excess of heat in the wines which produces such a fresh and digestible Condrieu, very far away from the majority of wines produced in this appellations unfortunately. Condrieu is the king of white wines for the Rhone. It is a very full bodied wine but focussed, honey and very pure. This wine has spent 12months in barrel and the oak comes through but marries well with the fruit and richness of the grape. Jean Michel’s son designs all the labels.
